Bridal dress trains
| The
train of a dress is the back part that drags on the floor behind the bride.
There are three types of trains: sweep, chapel and cathedral. They differ in
the formality and length of the train. A sweep is a semiformal train that is
about 6 inches and just brushes the floor. Chapel trains, the most popular
type, extend 4 feet from the waist. Cathedral trains are very formal and extend
about 9 feet from the waist, about 5 or more feet behind the bride. Many of the
trains are detachable so they can be taken off for the reception. It you buy a
dress with a large train, make sure you have pages in your wedding party to
help you down the aisle. By Nicole Mazzeo Wrapwithus wedding favors |
