The music during the reception sets the
mood of the event. It will create the atmosphere and help people enjoy
themselves. Whatever type of music you decide on, make sure to seat guests away
from the speakers because it will be very loud directly in front of
them. Questions to ask about wedding music: • What type of music suits you? If you and your fiancé are really big fans of swing music and would really enjoy having a swing group at your wedding, then maybe this is a good option for you. • What is the age appropriate wedding music for your guests? If you have mostly older guests, a band or a dj that plays older music may be a good fit. • Check with your reception site for restrictions on music. Your receptions site may not be big enough to hold a large band. • Ask the potential bands/DJs for references and a tape of them working. • What will the band/DJ wear? • Have the date and time, location, and cost in the contract. Make sure they have enough time to set up and check the sound before the guests arrive. • Give the band/DJ a play list of the songs that need to be played during the wedding.
