Never go wedding ring shopping on a Friday because there is bad luck associated with that day. Never wear a wedding ring before you are married because it is presumptuous and bad luck. If you lose or drop the ring during the wedding ceremony, you will have to start proceeding all over again. Don't wear someone else's wedding ring unless the marriage was a very happy one. Why do people wear their wedding ring on their left hand 4th finger? The Egyptians believed there was a vein in your 4th finger on your left hand that went straight to your heart. They called this vein "vena amoris." In Anglo-Saxon weddings the ring is placed over each finger as they say "in the name of the father, the son, and the holy ghost, amen." At each verse the ring is moved down to the next finger, starting with the thumb. When they say "amen" the ring is at the 4th finger and is placed there. It may not be a coincidence that the Egyptians chose to put wedding rings on their left hand.
